Pilates classes in Altrincham, Cheshire

All our physiotherapists are trained Pilates teachers accredited by The Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute (APPI).

We offer a full programme of Pilates classes from our Altrincham studio and online via Zoom, with a choice of 24 classes per week. Most classes last for one hour and are open to all ages and abilities. Check class availability

APPI is a modified form of Pilates exercises developed by physiotherapists to help with common musculoskeletal problems.

It’s safe and beneficial if you’re living with pain, recovering from injury or going through post-operative rehabilitation. Exercises are designed to build core strength, correct postural and muscle imbalances, and help manage or improve pain in the hips, pelvis, shoulders, neck and back.

For many clients Pilates is a natural progression, or a supplement to, physiotherapy treatment, helping people take control of their condition. Some of our clients enjoy our classes so much, Pilates has become a regular feature in their lifestyle.

Pilates can also help you maintain your usual sporting activities as you get older. It can improve both your tennis returns and golf swing, as well as helping runners and cyclists stay injury free.

Pre-class assessment

Before joining a Pilates class, we’ll invite you to an individual consultation with one of our physiotherapists. This is to assess your level of ability and show you the basic principles of Pilates to ensure your safety in class.

The usual cost for this assessment is £40, which we’ll deduct from the price if you sign up to a class block.

Pilates Level 1 Class

Introduces the key elements of Pilates and core stability training. The class is suitable for people who are new to Pilates, those recovering from injury or rehabilitating post surgery. It may also be appropriate for people with neurological conditions.

Pilates Level 2 Class

A progression from level 1, incorporating more challenging exercises and the use of small equipment. The class is suitable for people with previous Pilates experience, those progressing from level 1 and people who want to incorporate core stability training into their current exercise regime.

121 Pilates sessions

One-to-one Pilates tuition is available for clients who prefer more focused support. Sessions last 45 minutes. Please contact us for full details.

Pilates FAQ’s

The cost of a 6-week in-person block of classes is £90, this is paid in full at the start of the block. A one-hour zoom Pilates class is £6 and we operate a pay as you go system. Try one class before you commit to a block – on Zoom or in-person. A pay as you go option is available for those unable to commit to a block of in-person classes.

All equipment, including mats, will be provided for you at the studio. We ask that you bring your own head support – a folded bath towel is perfect. You may also prefer to purchase resistance bands and a soft ball so you don’t need to share equipment. If you are attending a Zoom class your instructor will advise what equipment you need.  All small equipment can be purchased in the clinic.

We recommend you wear comfortable, stretchable clothing that’s easy to move in.
