If your child has been complaining of knee pain for a while now, especially after sport, it could be linked to a common condition called Osgood Schlatter’s.
Despite the name, it isn’t a disease, please don’t worry – it’s a type of inflammation that often occurs during growth spurts in sporty children.

Symptoms can include:
A hard bony lump developing at the top of the shin
Pain when running, jumping or kneeling
Swelling or tenderness just below the knee
The good news? With the right advice, activity modifications and tailored exercises, symptoms usually improve. At Altrincham Physio, we’re here to guide you and your child safely back to sport and everyday activity.
