The last week in September is our second week of resistance bands and it’s time for the lighter resistance band to shine ?
Lighter resistance bands are mainly used with the upper limb and are a fantastic way to progress some of our Pilates exercises. The increased resistance helps to promote muscle work giving strength and improve endurance.
As we get older muscle wasting or sarcopenia becomes a real issue. Including a resistance band in your workout is a simple approach to start addressing this.
There is also a little more loading into the joints with the band. promoting proprioception, awareness of posture and this is beneficial for bone density.
Resistance bands are light and portable, easy to store and a simple piece of equipment to add an extra challenge and variation to your session.
